Picture perfect locations for Fall Family Photos in South Jersey

Fall is the perfect time for gathering the family and capturing lasting memories through beautiful photos. Back-to-school shopping means everyone has a new wardrobe. On top of that, the winding down of summer activities grants us a bit more free time. However, we photographers find ourselves immersed in a whirlwind of weekend weddings, numerous family sessions, and a constant influx of client inquiries seeking guidance on locations, attire selection, coordination, and much more. I thought I’d put together a guide to locations around South Jersey that are perfect for photos this Fall.

Check out some of my favorites below and submit your suggestions!

Red Bank Battlefield

National Park, New Jersey

I love family sessions at Red Bank Battlefield! This location offers a wide variety of options for lifestyle sessions as well as traditional posed photos.

Just inside the park is the James & Ann Whitall House, a historical home built in the 1700’s.

On the waterfront, a small beach area provides a sandy backdrop for the down-the-shore feeling without the travel.

Rounding out my favorite reasons why Red Bank Battlefield makes such a great backdrop are the many large sycamore and maple trees that all come alive with Fall colors sure to satisfy your foliage fancies.

Washington Lake Park

Sewell, New Jersey

When a client suggested Washington Lake Park last year for their family session, I had no idea the beauty contained in just one small area of our state! This park is more like a complex with so much going on its impossible to summarize it all here.

My favorite part of this park is this view right here: fall leaves, a beautiful lake, and a picture perfect natural backdrop for capturing the sweetest moments.

Mini sessions are being hosted here on October 8th and 14th, so secure your spot today or schedule your session for a day that is convenient for you using our online booking system.

Stow Creek State Park

Lower Alloways Creek, New Jersey

Another client suggested location, this simple park is beautiful for a brief family session! We chose the Bald Eagle viewing area to do most of this session. Beautiful place, but tucked out of the way, this one is a rare beauty.

Parvin State Park

Pittsgrove, New Jersey

In its heyday, Parvin State Park was a hotspot for tourists to enjoy the water & trails. Now, a little bit more laid back, this area is a fun place for family sessions and offers a lot of options for backgrounds.

This family coordinated with colors of the rainbow for the adults and children and I think it came out spectacularly!

Honorable mentions include Alcyon Park in Pitman, New Jersey, Batsto Village in Hammonton, New Jersey, and Ceres Park in Sewell, New Jersey. I have photographed in all of those locations, but out of season for Fall. I know they’re gorgeous and I’d love to photograph your family in any one of these locations this Fall!
